SQL Super Over

Learn SQL through IPL

Win the IPL with SQL. Pick your team. Write queries. Win the trophy.

How it works

  1. 01

Sign in and pick your team

Choose one of 10 franchises. Your name appears on the scoreboard, never your contact details.

  2. 02

    Read the match situation

Each match is a cricket question about a fictional IPL dataset of teams, players, matches and stats.

  3. 03

    Write and run SQL

Run as often as you like in your browser. Submit when ready: 3 attempts, 2 optional hints.

  4. 04

    Win 10 matches

6 group games, 2 quarter-finals, a semi-final and the final. Difficulty rises from WHERE to window functions and CTEs.

Learn SQL with cricket examples

Every question uses a fictional dataset with five tables: teams, players, matches, batting_stats and bowling_stats. You start with simple filters and sorting, then move to GROUP BY, joins, HAVING, subqueries, CASE WHEN, window functions like RANK and DENSE_RANK, and finally CTEs.

Your queries run instantly in a real Postgres database inside your browser. Answers are checked on our server, and you never get the same question twice, even when you replay.
